Blanche L. Bolton Malik, 96, of Bentleyville, died Tuesday afternoon January 13, 2015 at the home of her niece, Diedra Bolton in Kenova, West Virginia.
She was born October 13, 1918 in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, a daughter of James D. and Lena Blanche Flanagan Bolton.
She was a graduate of Forest Hill High School and attended Bluefield Business College, both in West Virginia
Mrs. Malik worked as clerk in the payoff department for the United States Navy during World War II where she met and married her husband of 57 years Joseph M. Malik.
She was a member of Ave Maria Parish and the parish Women's Guild. She was also a member of the former St. Clements Altar and Rosary Society.
Mrs. Malik served as a former president of the Bentworth Band Boosters and the Bentworth PTA. She was a member of the Bentleyville Public Library Board of Directors for several years.
Mrs. Malik was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables. She really enjoyed helping people. Whether it was the delicious food that she sent to those in need, the rides she gave to people who did not drive or just the time she spent checking on neighbors and friends who were ill, her smiling face was always a welcome sight. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who created many wonderful memories for her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Malik Satina (Frank) of Scenery Hill and Cecilia Malik of Bentleyville; a son, Philip D. Leftwich of Kenova, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Michelle Satina Bernard (Kevin) Theresa Satina Huang (Peter) and Darcie Kudra; five great-grandchildren, Lilly, Colby and Brady Bernard and Isabella and Kianna Huang, her nieces Monica Kelly and Deidra Bolton who were her loving caregivers in the last years of her life as well as many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, granddaughter, Rachael Diane Satina and a brother, Robert E. Bolton.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015 followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville with the Reverend Edward L. Yuhas, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. The members of the Ave Maria Parish Women's Guild will pray the Rosary at 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
