David J. Palyas, 66, of Fallowfield Township, Charleroi, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born November 14, 1949 in New Eagle, a son of the late John and Victoria Paulovich Palyas.
He was a graduate of Charleroi High School.
A veteran, David served with the U.S. Army during Vietnam and received a Bronze Star.
After his discharge, he worked at the Volkswagen plant in New Stanton and later was an assistant manager for several area Hoss’s restaurants. He also was a corrections officer at the State Correctional Institution-Greene, in Waynesburg.
David was an active member and Deacon of the Christian Assembly of God, Bentleyville.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and especially loved his family and vacation cruises.
His wife, Renee Zajac Palyas, survives. They were married August 31, 1974 in Monessen.
Also surviving are a daughter, Heather D. Rehonic (Gary) of Cecil; a grandson, Alec Rehonic; three sisters, Bonnie Ventura (Dominic) of Daisytown, Linda Pataski (the late Ronald) of Charleroi and Janet Harris (Dart) of Ellsworth and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are an infant son, Jeffrey Scott Palyas and an infant sibling.
Friends are welcome from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville 724-239-2255. Additional visitation from 10 to 10:30 a.m., the hour of service, Wednesday, November 9 at the Christian Assembly of God Church, 100 Meadow Drive, Bentleyville with Pastor Paul Peternel, officiating. Entombment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora with military honors by American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville and the U.S. Army.
