Retired Bentworth teacher, coach, and principle for 40 years from Ellsworth.

Mr. Edward C. Palla 72, of Ellsworth, died Saturday, September 26, 2015 at home.

He was born May, 26 1943, in Ellsworth, the son of late Emery and Anna Palla and brother Joseph, who died in 2013.

He was a graduate of Ellsworth High School in 1961 and received his educational bachelors’ degree in 1964 and his masters’ degree in Biology in 1969 and his principal’s certification from California University of Pennsylvania in 1978. He was employed for 40 years by Bentworth School District.

He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Teacher and National Education Associations, a member of the Pennsylvania and National Association of secondary Principals and a member of the local and state PTA.

He coached Bentworth football for 28 years and also coached basketball and community baseball.

Mr. Palla was a member of the former St. Clement Church and now Ave Maria Parish. He was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth.

On August 9, 1969, he married Lee Stepko, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Edward V. Palla and Jonpaul "Pope" Palla; Ed’s wife Jayme and their daughter Carly and Jonpaul's fiancée, Amy Wildman.

There will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville with the Reverend Edward L. Yuhas, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.
