Jeanette Vogel

Jeanette Korba Vogel, 84 of Huntington Beach, California died Monday, July 24, 2017 at Kaiser Permanent Medical Center after a brief illness.

Jan was born on November 27, 1932 in Bentleyville, a daughter of Thomas and Josephine Cmoryak Korba.

She attended Bentleyville High School and graduated on May 24, 1950. Jan received her nursing certificate from Braddock General Hospital School of Nursing on September 7, 1952 and was licensed by the Department of Public Instruction by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

As a registered nurse, she served with the U.S. Air Force and after military service, she continued working in various hospitals for many years until her retirement at the age of 73.

She was a member of Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church in Anaheim, California.

She is survived by her son, Chet; granddaughters, Kelly, Kelsey and Kyley; great-granddaughters, Audrey and Harper; nieces Debbie Holman and Monica Irwin and nephew Daniel Korba.

She was preceded in death by her son, Vance; brother, John Korba and sister, Lillian D’Vorchak.

The Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy was held Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church with Archpriest Michael Moran, her long-time companion and friend, officiating.

Friends are invited to an Interment Service at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 5 at Sacred Heart Cemetery (on the Korba family plot), Monongahela with Archpriest Moran and Father Stephen Wahal, co-officiating. Military honors by American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville and the U.S. Air Force.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church, 995 N. West Street, Anaheim, CA 92801.
