John Babirad

John “Babs” Babirad, 70, of Bentleyville, died March 30, 2017 at his home, after a courageous three year battle with cancer. John was the son of the late John “Hoover” Babirad and Lillian Jansante Babirad.

John, known as Johnny to his friends, was born February 10, 1947 in Bentleyville.

He enjoyed working with his hands and was always in the middle of a project whether it be building, repairing or creating something. He was self-taught and knowledgeable in many areas whether it be plumbing, electrical or remodeling and took pride in the upkeep of his home and property. John was always there when needed and willing to help in any way possible. He enjoyed being outdoors in the warm weather and spending time with his family and many wonderful friends who will miss him dearly. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He lived life to the fullest and never gave up even in declining health.

Surviving are his wife, Deb Pivarnik Babirad, who he married on September 11, 1982; a son, Ben Babirad (Leslie) of Bentleyville; granddaughter Kalli; grandson Blake; brother Rich (Joyce) of Scenery Hill and sister-in-law Margaret of Bentleyville; son Joe “Cheech” Babirad (Cindy Angotti), of Bentleyville and daughters Anissa and Theresa and families who live out of state. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces and nephews who he spent many happy, memorable times with.

Deceased, in addition to his parents are a son, John Paul Babirad, who died September 1, 1984 and a brother Jim Babirad, who died December 10, 1990.

Friends are welcome from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 3, 2017 with the Pastor Ken Custer, officiating.
