Karen Stewart

Karen A. Lowther Stewart, 70, of Washington, formerly of Bentleyville, died Tuesday morning, August 23, 2016 at the Washington Hospital.

She was born March 31, 1946 in New Eagle, a daughter of Robert Lowther, Jr. and Edna Bane Lowther.

She was a 1964 graduate of Bent-Ell High School.

Mrs. Stewart attended school to become a medical assistant and worked for Dr. Braun, Dr. Weinstein, Dr. Gosai and Dr. Ghandi.

She was a member of the Bentleyville United Methodist Church.

She loved to cook and enjoyed her flowers and gardening.

Surviving are her husband, James C. Stewart; three children, John Jones, Jr. (Carol) of Bentleyville, Brian Jones of Natrona Heights and Traci Sekora (Joseph) of Washington; three step-children, Jamie Killen (Harry) of Washington, Timothy Stewart (Holly) of Claysville and Brian Stewart (Kerry) of Washington; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister, Roberta “Bobbie” Cool (John) of Ellsworth.

Friends are welcome to a memorial visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255. Private inurnment in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
