Olive Jansante Obituary

Olive Germaine Sloan Jansante, 93, formerly of Bentleyville, died Saturday morning, September 10, 2016 at the home of her daughter, Maureen Helinski.

She was born February 27, 1923 in Ehrnfeld, Cambria County, a daughter of William Patrick Sloan and Eve Tunnecliff Sloan.

A graduate of Centerville High School, she attended California State Teacher’s College (now California University of Pennsylvania).

Mrs. Jansante once worked for an aircraft facility and then as a secretarial aide for Bentworth Elementary School.

She was a member of Ave Maria Parish and the parish choir

Surviving are nine children; Chris (Linda) of Greensburg, Val, Jr. (Sue) of Alliance, Nebraska, Tim (Rose) of Bentleyville, Cindy Carter of Salisbury, Maryland, Kevin (Sandra) of Port St. Lucie, Flor., Zeb (Sandy) of Bethel Park, Jill Wales (Ron) of Canonsburg, Dion (Lori) of Bentleyville and Maureen Helinski (David) of Canonsburg; grandchildren, Jeremy, Amanda, Timmy, Derek, Jason, Brittany, Carmen, Luke, Grant and Timothy Jansante, Catrina, Alisha, Waugh Carter; Riley and Glenna Wales, Joseph and Connor Helinski; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Thomas, Maceo Bell, Jayden, Nikali and Gavin Jansante Olivia Harris, Preston and Parker Shuty and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are her husband, Valerio R. (Val) Jansante, who died October 1, 2008; three children, Valerie, Jeffrey and Ricky and siblings, William, George, Margaret, Mary, Lois, Regis, John and Patricia.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 13 followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville, with the Reverend Edward L. Yuhas, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. The Ave Maria Parish Women’s Guild will pray the rosary at 3 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
