Polly Sumney Obituary

Pauline (Polly) Miller Sumney, 88, of Somerset Township, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 16, 1927 in Stoneycreek Township, Somerset County, PA, a daughter of the late Oscar and Lydia Engel Miller.

She was a 1945 graduate of Trinity High School.

Mrs. Sumney was a member of Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir for sixty-four years. She was also a Deacon of the church and a member of the Missionary Society.

She enjoyed playing cards with her many friends.

Surviving are her husband Dave Sumney, whom she married on April 14, 1948; two children David Sumney, Jr. (Carol) and Scott Sumney (Beverly ), all of Bentleyville; six grandchildren, Jeff Sumney (Kim), Jason Sumney (Michael Lutz), David Sumney III (Holly), TJ Sumney, Brad Parola (Ember) and Grace Sumney and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Lucas Sumney.

Polly also had many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Deceased in addition to her parents are three sisters, Marie Devore, Margaret Walker and Mary Ellen Miller and one brother Earl Miller.

Friends are welcome from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255) and from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church, 45 Church Road, Eighty Four with the Rev. John Dykstra, officiating. Interment will follow in Pigeon Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pigeon Creek Cemetery.
