Rena Kearns Obituary

Rena L. Kearns, 86, of Bentleyville, Somerset Township, died Monday evening, June 22, 2015 at her home.

She was born April 8, 1929 in Somerset Township, a daughter of Glenn W. and Josephine Mitchell.

Mrs. Kearns was a member of Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church, Eighty Four, where she served as an elder and a member of the church choir for 60 years and choir director for 10 years.

She attended the Somerset-Bentleyville High School and the Douglas Business College.

On June 2, 1949, she married Russell W. Kearns, who died September 27, 2007.

Surviving are two grandchildren, James R. McVicker (Sara) and Tammy L. Anderson (Corey), all of Bentleyville; eight great-grandchildren, Austin Curry, Anthony, Rylee and Addison McVicker, Tori, Kyle, Casi and Nita Anderson and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a brother, Glenn Martin Mitchell.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255) and from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, June 26, the hour of service, at the Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church, 45 Church Road, Eighty Four with Pastor Frances Skariot, officiating. Interment will follow in Pigeon Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church.
