Robert Morris, Sr.

Robert L. Morris, Sr. 84, of Marianna, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Washington Hospital.

He was born July 17, 1933 in Marianna, a son of Levi and Maude Pinkney Morris.

Mr. Morris worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Highways (now known as PennDOT) for 14 years. Later, he worked for BethEnergy Mines in Marianna for 23 years and retired as a roof bolter.

His wife, Bertha J. Naylor Morris, whom he married June 28, 1955, in Winchester, Va. died April 25, 2014.

Surviving are his daughters, Bertha "Bunny" Myers (Wayne) of Clarksville and Marcia Knestrick (Mark) of Nemacolin; sons, Robert Morris Jr. and Glenn Morris, both of Marianna; five grandchildren, Melissa Renaldi (Chad Bergman), Nathan Danforth, Miranda Riggleman (Roy IV), Levi Morris (Shelby) and Niccolle Lash (Tyler); nine great-grandchildren, Gianna Renaldi, Roy Riggleman V and Chloe Riggleman, Austin, Lyndi, Chloe, Logan, Bella and Hoyt Bergman; sisters, Shirley Raticia (Robert) of Low Hill, Barbara (the late Raymond) Adamson of Marianna and Deatra Bennington (the late William) of Marianna; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a granddaughter, Rebecca Danforth; grandson-in-law, Paul Renaldi; brothers, Abram, John, Leroy and Edward Morris and sisters Thelma Hutchinson, Dolly Leonard and Edna Mae Reno.

Friends are welcome from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 25 with Pastor Dayton Mix, officiating.
