Ruth Ross Obituary

Ruth Elaine Brown Ross, 93, formerly of Clarksville, died peacefully Monday evening, December 8, 2014 at Suncoast Hospice, Palm Harbor, Florida.

She was born June 17, 1921, in Fayette City, a daughter of Isaac and Mary Balsis Brown.

On April 28, 1937, in Cumberland, Maryland, she married Forest Vance Ross, who died October 17, 2003. Together, they celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Mrs. Ross was a life-long member of the Clarksville Christian Church, where she was an elder. She had a beautiful singing voice and was a fixture in the church choir. She also sang at funerals, weddings and community events. Two of her favorite hymns were “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden.”

She was a member of the Lady Rebekah Lodge in Clarksville, where she was a past Noble Grand.

She worked for Dr. Leroy Harshman in Fredericktown, and the former Lazovick’s Department Store in Fredericktown.

Mrs. Ross attended East Bethlehem High School, but she chose marriage over graduation. This spring she worked with the administrators at Beth-Center High School, completed a senior project and earned her high school diploma. In June, she was admitted into the National Honor Society and she graduated with the Beth-Center High School class of 2014.

Surviving are her children, Kenneth Isaac Ross of Huber Heights, Ohio, Forrest Wayne Ross (Sandy) of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina and Janet Lea Ross (Robert) Brown of Tarpon Springs, Florida; sisters, Margaret Cott of Clarksville and Mary Miller of New Castle; eight grandchildren, John Ross, Randi Ross Marodi, Kelly Ross Seraphin, Shannon Ross Davis, Nikole Kiralis, Warren Blosjo, Morgan Ross Muhly and Taylor Ross Callegari; three step-grandchildren, Katrina Taylor, Matthew Kraus and Amanda Moss; 11 great-grandchildren Chance Ross, Abigail Marodi, Katherine Ruth Marodi, Natalie Davis, Taylor Ross, Lily Davis, James Muhly, Oliver Muhly, Benjamin Vance Muhly, Hazel Muhly and Lola Callegari; several nieces and nephews.
