Shirley Ada Matay, 69, of Fallowfield Township, Charleroi, died Thursday, September 13, 2007, at the Donnell House, Washington.
She was born November 16, 1937 in Bentleyville, a daughter of the late Vincent and Ada Ambrazas.
She was a graduate of Bentleyville High School.
She was the first woman school bus driver for the Charleroi School District, where she worked for over 30 years.
Mrs. Matay was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville.
Surviving are two daughters, Terry Boord (Keith) and Cheryl Mitchner, all of Fallowfield Township; four grandchildren, Gary S. Dean, Rachel, Jessica and Sarah Mitchner; two great-grandchildren, Ada Leigh Urwin and Connor Mitchner; a brother, Herbert Ambrosy of Ellsworth and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her husband, Charles W. Matay, who died December 21, 1991 and a brother, James McBeth.
Friends received from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255), where services will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2007 with the Rev. J. Andy Scott, officiating. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Donnell House, c/o Hospice Care of Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Ave., Washington, PA 15301.
