Violet Washlack Obituary

Violet Patricia Washlack, 90, of Smithton, formerly of Bentleyville, died peacefully on March 31, 2017.

She was born July 20, 1926 in Bentleyville, the daughter of Bennie and Nellie Vilkelinte Puskavich.

Violet was employed in many positions, some of which included the Mon Valley Catholic High School and Uniontown Catering.

Violet was a lifelong member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Bentleyville, having been a founding member of the Woman’s Pierogi Fundraising Committee and former Ave Maria Parish women’s guild.

She was also a member of the Bentleyville Homemaker’s and the Red Hatters. In her spare time Violet enjoyed crocheting, baking, and going to the casinos. Most of all, Violet thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are three children Janet (Andy) Boris of Smithton with whom she resided, Marjorie (Stan) Filip of Pittsburgh, Charles (Sharon) Washlack, Jr. of Coal Center; eight grandchildren Terri (Jim) Pajak of Smithton, Dr. Paul Boris of Smithton, Tammy (Kathy) Boris of Shippensburg, Jeffrey and Darrin Filip both of Pittsburgh, Tara (Geoff) Barbanell of Los Angeles, CA, Chas and Jared Washlack, both of Bentleyville; great-grandchildren, Leah Boris of Smithton and Jones Barbanell of Los Angeles; sister-in-law Susan Procasky of Berea, Ohio and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

Deceased are husband Charles, two sisters, Mildred Shoe and Nellie Seaman and three brothers, Albert, Frank and Anthony Puskavich.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 3, followed at 1:30 p.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Katharine Drexel, Bentleyville Campus (formerly Ave Maria), 126 Church Street, Bentleyville, with the Reverend Ronald Cyktor, Jr., as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Luke Cemetery, Bentleyville. A reception will follow at St. Katherine Drexel Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 3810-9959.
