Vivian McCracken Obituary

Helen Vivian Adams McCracken, 92, of Scenery Hill, died Thursday, March 22, 2018 at her home.

She was born July 22, 1925 in Castle Shannon, Allegheny County, a daughter of Alvie and Grethel Wonsettler Adams.

Mrs. McCracken was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and the Brownsville Hospital School of Nursing. She received her training and was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Group.

She worked for 30 years in the nursery at Washington Hospital.

She was a life-long member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Scenery Hill.

Mrs. McCracken was the co-chair of the Scenery Hill National Pike Festival and a member of the Buck Skinners.

She enjoyed bowling at Tan-O-Bell Lanes in Bentleyville and quilt making.

On May 31, 1946, she married Donald S. McCracken, who died April 8, 1990.

Surviving are her children, Gary McCracken of Washington, William “Skip” McCracken (the late Linda) of Scenery Hill, Jeff McCracken (Lisa Marie) of Washington, Dawn Piergiovanni (Paul) of Scenery Hill and Alison McCracken (Jason Furmanek) of Houston; daughter-in-law, Linda Armstead McCracken of West Virginia; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Grace Aleen Clarke (the late Robert) of state of California.

Deceased are son, Kenneth McCracken and sister, Mary Lou Goroncy.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, c/o Debbie Rhone, 1874 E. National Pike, Scenery Hill, PA 15360.
