Stella Stechly

It is with great sadness that the family of Stella Wloch Stechly, 93, a long-time resident of Bentleyville and Washington, passed peacefully on Wednesday morning, August 22, 2018 at Strabane Woods Assisted Living under the care of 365 Hospice.

She was born in Avella on August 15, 1925, the daughter of Stanley and Mary Wloch.

Stella married her late beloved husband of 41 years, John H. Stechly, on August 14, 1948.

During World War II, she worked at National Tube in Versailles and Tygart Steel in McKeesport, aiding the war effort.

She also worked for Model Dry Cleaners, G.C. Murphy Co., and the box factory in Bentleyville.

Stella was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish and the former Bentleyville Eagles Auxillary.

Apart from being a homemaker, she loved to play bingo and was very talented in making beautiful birthday cakes and creating lovely crocheted afghans.

Surviving are two daughters, Agnes Quinn Loftus of Carbondale and Cynde O’Brien of Washington; her grandchildren, Michele Quinn of New York, NY, Kelly Plank of Peoria, Arizona, Patrick Quinn of Nottingham, Maryland, James O’Brien of Washington, John O’Brien of West Palm Beach, Florida, Justin Stechly of Millsboro and Jesse Stechly of Amity; her five great-grandchildren, Andrew and Chelsea Lawler, Jovie, Ziva and Luca Stechly and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a son David John Stechly, who died July 20, 2015 and her brother Stanley Wloch, Jr.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2018 with the Reverend Edward L. Yuhas, officiating.

A procession will follow to Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora for a committal service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request memorials may be made to 365 Hospice, 2549 Mosside Blvd., Monroeville, PA 15146.
