Francis Albert Perchinsky, 83, of Bentleyville, died Thursday, December 2, 2010 in the Washington Hospital.
He was born June 7, 1927 in Ellsworth, a son of the late Albert and Margaret Sworcheck Perchinsky.
He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1944.
After graduation, Mr. Perchinsky enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving with the Seabees in the Asiatic Fleet. He was awarded a Pacific Theater and American Theater ribbons and the Victory medal.
In 1951, he operated Perchinsky Lanes and was the originator of the Women's Bowling Leagues in Bentleyville.
Mr. Perchinsky was a member of the Ellsworth High School Board of Education from 1952 to 1956.
He was a Justice of Peace in Somerset Township from 1964 to 1970.
He was a member of Ave Maria Parish, a 34 year and Third degree member of the Knights of Columbus 5826, Lithuanian Club and the American Legion Post 165, all of Bentleyville.
In 1977, he retired from Bethlehem Mines and worked at mine 51 in Ellsworth. He was also a member of the U.M.W. of A. Local 1197.
On July 1, 1950 at Saints Mary and Ann Church in Marianna, he married Ann Sabol, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, David Perchinsky (Louise); two daughters, Susan Morello (Rick) and Megan (Robert) Michalow, all of Bentleyville; six grandchildren, Eric Adams (Rebecca) of Sarasota, Flor., Elizabeth Burwell (Joe), David and Daniel Perchinsky and Kaitlyn and Robbie Michalow, all of Bentleyville; two great-grandchildren, Bella and Tyler Burwell; a brother, Stephen Perchinsky (Millie) of Bentleyville and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Sharon and a brother, Richard Perchinsky.
Friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255), where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2010 followed at 10 a.m. by Mass of Christian Burial at Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville with the Rev. Gary W. Krummert, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St Luke Cemetery with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 165. The Knight of Columbus 5826 will pray the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
