Aldo Davella Obituary

Aldo "Hux" Davella, 89, of Millsboro, died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at Donnell House.


He was born May 14, 1917 in Bentleyville, a son of Antonio and Giovanna Dellasanta DellaValle.


Hux retired from Bethlehem Mines and worked at Mine 58 in Marianna as a hoist operator and was a member of the U.M.W.A.


He was a member of St. Michael Archangel Church of St. Oliver Plunkett Parish, Fredericktown, where he served as an usher.


He was active member of the Beth-Center Senior Center, where he delivered Meals on Wheels and made lap ropes for veterans.


An avid golfer, he was very proud of getting seven holes-in-one during his life.


Surviving are a daughter, Karen Gust (Ron) of Bentleyville; three grandchildren, Joseph Bankovich (Candace), Nicole Thomas (Albert) and Holly Funyak (Michael); two great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Isabella Bankovich; a step-daughter, Christy Zirkle (Jim) and several nieces and nephews


He was the last of his immediate family.


Deceased are his first wife, Millie Mazutis Davis; his second wife, Eve Davella; son, Gary Anthony DellaValle; two brothers, George and John Davalle; six sisters, Mary Tinoly, Flora Masnovi, Millie Vaira, Elsie Benedetti, Ida Maffei and Edna Thompson.


Friends received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc. 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2007 followed at 10:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael Church, Fredericktown with Father Paul J. Grunebach, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Horn Cemetery, Marianna. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Donnell House, c/o Hospice Care of The Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Ave., Washington, PA 15301
