Anna Gordon Obituary

Anna Mae Merichko Gordon, 79, of Bentleyville, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Adult Assisted Living, Dunlevy.


She was born December 23, 1928 in Cokeburg, a daughter of John and Stella Laciak Merichko.


She was a graduate of 1946 graduate of Bentleyville High School.


Mrs. Gordon was well known by many for her pie baking when she worked for the former Bentleyville Truck Stop (now Pilot) and the Country Kitchen (now the Carlton Kitchen.) She also served as a cook at the former Ave Maria School in Ellsworth.


She was a member of the Ave Maria Parish and it's Women's Guild.


On November 24, 1951 at the St. Luke Church, Bentleyville, she married Albert W. Gordon who died December 18, 1994.


Surviving are four children, Albert W. Gordon II (Sandra) of Bridgeville, Alana King (Mark) and Adrian J. Gordon (Cheryl), all of Bentleyville and Alex J. Gordon (Leah) of Belle Vernon; six grandchildren, Amanda King Blevins, Kristen, Joshua, Heather, Crystal and Candace Gordon; a great-granddaughter, Zoey Vivio and several nieces and nephews.


Also deceased are two brothers, Walter and John and three sisters, Rose, Helen and Shirley.


Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc. 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255), where a brief prayer service will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2008 followed at 9:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville with Rev. Gary W. Krummert, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. The Ave Maria Parish Women's Guild will pray the rosary Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ave Maria Parish, 126 Church Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314 or the Alzheimer's Association, 1000 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222
