Anna Gozdonovich Obituary

Anna A. "Chouchie" Dobrinski Gozdonovich, 89, formerly of Monongahela, died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at The New Dawn, Thorpe's Personal Care Home, North Charleroi.


She was born to polish immigrants on June 8, 1917 in West Deer Twp., Allegheny County, a daughter of Anthony A. Dobrinski, Sr. and Agnes Goros Dobrinski.


She grew up in the coal mining town of Sudan, now Van Voorhis.


As a teenager, she did women's hair for script (money to be spent at the company store.)


On September 23, 1935, she married Adolph Schock, who died March 26, 1978. The couple lived in Van Voorhis until 1954, the year they built their home in Carroll Township.


Her dream came true when she graduated in 1955 from the former Fuesters Beauty Academy, Monessen. She then opened Anna's Beauty Shop at her home and operated there until the 1990s.


In 1980, she married her second husband, Tom Gozdonovich, who died in November 1981.


In February 2004, she sold her home and then resided at The New Dawn, Thorpe's Personal Care in North Charleroi. She was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church in Charleroi.


Surviving are a brother Anthony A. Dobrinski, Jr. of Van Voorhis and several nieces and nephews.


Deceased are two brothers, Frank and John Dobrinski and sister, Julia V. Organiscak.


Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc. 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m., Wednesday, January 24 followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Mary, Mother of the Church, Charleroi. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ave Maria School, PO Box 590, Ellsworth, PA 15331.
