Carmine S. Carpenelli, 88, of Scenery Hill, died Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington.
He was born October 9, 1920 in Merrittstown, the first son of Samuel and Jennie Chambers Carpinelli.
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1942 to 1945 as a radio officer operator. He served in the Atlantic war zone, Mediterranean and Middle East war zones with medals.
Mr. Carpenelli retired from Jessop Steel Corporation in Washington, where he worked as an electrician in Electrical Maintenance for 33 years. He retired and moved to Scenery Hill, where he lived his retired years.
He was a member of the Christian Assembly of God in Bentleyville.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Helen P. Molek Carpenelli; daughter, Jennie Baker and son-in-law, Gary D. Baker of Texas and their daughter Brittany Baker; son, Craig S. Carpenelli and daughter-in-law, Kathryn Carpenelli of Texas and their children, Conrad, Cameo, Clark, Casey, and Chrissandra Carpenelli; a deceased son, Savine Carpenelli and his sons, Brian and Brent Carpenelli; a sister, Pauline Piatt and her husband Joseph of Ashville, NC and many nephews and nieces, including Charles and A.J. Carpinelli of Brownsville.
Deceased are a brother, Michael Carpinelli and a sister, Angelina Shimshock.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255). Additional visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Assembly of God, 100 Meadow Drive, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday with Rev. Paul Peternel, officiating. Burial will be on Monday, December 29 at the LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill with military rites by American Legion Post 165 of Bentleyville.
