Carol Anne (Stechly) Bayer

Carol Anne Stechly Bayer, 79, of Eighty Four, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024 in her home.

She was born February 25, 1945 in Monongahela, a daughter of the late Walter and Anna Chmura Stechly.

She was a graduate of the Ellsworth High School, and the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy.

Carol was a hairdresser for Franco Beauty Salon in Washington, and worked in the produce department at Giant Eagle in McMurray.

She was a member of St. Oscar Romero Parish in Canonsburg.

Her family and her home on the farm were the most important part of her life. She worked and sold produce at various farmers market until she was not able to.

Carol loved visiting Amish country and, later on, reading Amish books. She was known for her famous macaroni and jello salads.

On August 19, 1967 at St. Luke Church in Bentleyville, she married Robert Bayer, who survives.

Also surviving are her children, Stacey Sinko (Richard) of Washington, James Bayer (Marlene Antonson) of Eighty Four, John Bayer (Stacy) of Muse, and Michael Bayer (Alena) of Eighty Four; grandchildren, Travis Miller, Shannon and Jennifer Bayer; step-grandchildren, Jessica Sinko (Brandon Preece) and Richard "RJ" Sinko; a step-great-grandson Brandon "PJ" Preece; her siblings, Joseph Stechly of Ellsworth, Janet Stechly and Robin Peles, of Washington, and Rebecca Crockett (the late Lloyd Robert) of Eighty Four and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are welcome from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a Blessing Service will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, June 24, 2024 with Rev. George DeVille, officiating.

A procession will follow to Sacred Heart Cemetery for a Committal service.
