Cecilia Damich Obituary

Cecilia Hrutkay Damich, 81, of Bentleyville, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in The Donnell House, Washington.

She was born on April 26, 1931 in Bentleyville, a daughter of Leopold and Mary Toshak Hrutkay.

She graduated from Bentleyville High School, class of 1950.

She was a beautician and owned Cil’s Beauty Shop in Bentleyville and Carols Barber and Beauty Shop in Port St. Lucie, Flor.

She and her husband previously owned Old West Mobil Estates in Bentleyville.

She was a member of the Ave Maria Parish in Bentleyville, its’ choir and Women’s Guild, a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Dolores 1675 and the Bentleyville Lioness. She had been a former member Red Hatters.

She was parish secretary of the former St. Luke Parish, a member of the parish council and taught CCD.

She was an avid bowler, golfer, enjoyed playing cards and going to The Meadows Casino.

She lived most of her life in Bentleyville and was a former resident of Port St. Lucie, Flor.

On October 28, 1950 at the former St. Luke Church in Bentleyville, she married Louis E. Damich, Sr. who died on December 31, 2002.

Surviving are four sons, Dr. Louis E. Damich (Nancy) of Pittsburgh, Lawrence Damich (Lorraine) of West Newton, Mark E. Damich (Cynthia) of Bentleyville and Gary E. Damich (Sandra) of Bentleyville and a daughter, Anna Marie (Stanley) Glowaski of Bentleyville; 12 grandchildren, Chris (Lindsay), Nicole, Drew, Matt, Scott, Brianna, Mark, Garrett, Cassie and Derek Damich, Greg Glowaski and Deidra (Zack) Stepko; a brother, Theodore (Becky) Hrutkay of Bentleyville and a sister, Mary Machaj of Virginia Beach, Virg. and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are brothers, John, Albert, Joseph and Paul Max and Leopold, who died in infancy and two sisters, Susan Mascara and Ella Fava.

Friends are welcome Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, August 15 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville with the Rev. Edward Yuhas, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Luke Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Donnell House or Ave Maria Parish.
