David J. Perchinsky, 72, of Bentleyville, passed away Monday morning, August 26, 2024, surrounded by his family.
He was born October 23, 1951, in New Eagle, the son of Ann Sabol Perchinsky and the late Francis Albert "Al" Perchinsky of Bentleyville.
Dave graduated from Mon Valley Catholic High School in 1969 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving as a Sergeant in Vietnam from 1971-1975.
He was a coal miner for 35 years, attended Penn State for mining engineering, and retired in 2014. After retirement, he was a crossing guard for the Bentworth School District. Dave was a member of the Saint Katharine Drexel Parish, the Croatian Fraternal Union St. George Lodge 354, the Lithuanian Club, and the American Legion Post 165. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 5862.
Dave loved Polka music and met the love of his life, Louise, while Polka dancing at Seven Springs. Dave and Louise loved to travel, especially to their favorite destination Las Vegas, Nevada. You could always find Dave and Louise at Bugsy's Bar in the Flamingo Hotel enjoying a Jack and Coke and a strawberry daiquiri. He also enjoyed watching hockey, gardening, farming, making up his own quirky phrases, as well as the annual tradition of hanging Christmas lights with his sons ("always add the extra set").
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Louise Stoyanoff Perchinsky. They were married on June 23, 1979, at St. Anselm Church in Swissvale, recently celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary.
Dave is also survived by his mother, Ann Sabol Perchinsky, his two sons, David A. Perchinsky (Nicole), Daniel R. Perchinsky (Kata Lucas); his sisters, Susan Morello (Rick) and Megan Michalow (Keith Palli); grandchildren, Bella and Tyler Burwell; nephew, Eric Adams (Rebecca Madden); niece Kaitlyn Richardson (Jesse), nephew Robbie Michalow; brother-in-law Nicholas G.
