Edmund Tylus, 84, of Cokeburg, died Monday, December 6, 2010 in The Washington Hospital.
He was born November 8, 1926 in Beech Bottom, West Virginia, a son of Samuel and Sophia Bidea Tylus.
A veteran, Mr. Tylus served during World War II with the U.S. Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.
He worked for Bethlehem Mines at mine 60 in Somerset Township and retired as a foreman.
He was a devoted member of the Cokeburg Presbyterian Church, a lifelong member of the Cokeburg Moose and the American Legion Post 165 of Bentleyville. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and the Polish Club of Bentleyville.
Mr. Tylus enjoyed baseball and was a little league coach and umpire. He also was a life-long fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and was always optimistic, year after year, that they would have a winning season.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 46 years, Dolores Consavage Tylus; his two daughters, Monica Tylus Goblesky (Tracy) of New Jersey and Tyra Savarese (George) of Charleroi; his son, Samuel Tylus (Patty) of Bentleyville; granddaughters, Candace and Angela Goblesky, Sophia Savarese; grandsons, Dylan Tylus (Elaine), Giorgio Savarese; great-grandsons, Riley and Cole Tylus and several nieces and nephews.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, (724-239-2255), where services will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday with the Rev. Frances Skariot, officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cokeburg Presbyterian Church.
