Edward Chester, 89 of Eighty Four, Somerset Township died Sunday, July 5, 2020 in his home.
He was born November 26, 1930 in Washington, a son of Ross H. Chester and Catherine R. Morris Chester.
A veteran, he served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Mindora.
Mr. Chester was well-known in the community for 54 years as an auctioneer and was the oldest in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
He retired from PennDOT where he worked as an oil distributor and loved his John Deere tractors and going to flea markets.
On December 14, 1965, he married his soulmate of 55 years, Nellie Arlene Housel Chester, who died July 31, 2019.
Also surviving are six children, Eddie Chester (Jackie) of Washington, Kathy Schaller (the late William) of Canonsburg, Greg Chester (Darlene) of Hummelstown, Cindy Reagan (Jim) of Oak Forest, Lisa Nuccetelli (Bruce) of Bentleyville and Jim Chester (Amy) of Eighty Four; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Wonser of Oregon and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother Walter Chester.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a service will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2020 with Pastor Douglas Keith, Chaplain for Amedisys Hospice, officiating.
All visitors are required to wear a mask or facial covering in the funeral home and at the cemetery.
Interment will follow at the National Cemeteries of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville with military honors by the U.S. Navy and the American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville.
