Fred R. Merashoff, Sr.

Fred R. Merashoff, Sr., 72, of Fallowfield Township, Charleroi, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at his home.

He was born March 24, 1937 in Ellsworth, a son of Joseph and Helen Bendik Merashoff.

Mr. Merashoff was a 1955 graduate of Bentleyville High School.

He had worked as a mechanic for the former Bendik-Lancaster Buick in Charleroi.

On March 7, 1959 in Monongahela, he married Saundra L. Burnsworth, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Debra Lee Vedder (Robert) of Monongahela; a son, Fred Merashoff, Jr. (Chris) of Charleroi; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jason Merashoff and Jennifer Massare; sisters, Violet McGinnis of Beaumont, Texas and Lillian Hudson (James) of Dickinson, Texas and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are grandson, Robert James Massare; sisters, JoAnn Ross and Helen Carey.

Friends are welcome from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255). Additional visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, August 31 at Grace United Methodist Church, 420 California Drive, Coal Center, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dr. John K. Smith and Associate Pastor Randy Landman, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Creek Cemetery, Fallowfield Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
