Gary Mousourakis Obituary

Gary Mousourakis of Malden, was born on July 4, 1947 to John and Phyllis Mousourakis of Daisytown, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of service, integrity, and dedication. He was 77 years old.

A graduate of California High School, Gary answered the call to serve his country shortly after graduation, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on July 23, 1965.

During his military service, he exemplified the highest values of the Corps-honor, courage, and commitment. By direction of the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gary was awarded the Good Conduct Medal for the period of August 19, 1965 to August 18, 1968. This recognition reflected his honest and faithful service, in keeping with the proud traditions of the Marines. While in service, Gary served as a squad leader in the esteemed Ceremonial Platoon, where his leadership and dedication earned the respect of his peers and superiors. He was also the recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation and the "Chesty" Award, presented in gratitude for his outstanding support of the Marine Corps Recruiting Service-a testament to his commitment both on and off the field of duty.

After concluding his honorable military career, Gary continued his life of hard work and reliability. He was employed at the Shipping Port Power Plant, where he brought the same strong work ethic he had demonstrated in the military. Later, he spent 17 years as an over-the-road truck driver, respected by colleagues for his dependability and dedication.

Throughout his life, Gary was known not only for his service and professionalism, but also for his unwavering sense of duty, whether to his country, his career, or his family and friends. His life remains a tribute to the values he held dear-integrity, responsibility, and perseverance.

A man of faith, Gary was a member of Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church in Eighty Four.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Marion Dean Mousourakis; his son Shawn Mousourakis and wife Heather, along with their children Emily, Mario, and Mia; his daughter Shelley and husband Tom Korllos, and their son Nicholas; as well as his stepdaughters Kellie Wheatley, Brenda McGee, and Amy Schiller; and brother, John Mousourakis.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
