Glenn Miller Obituary

Glenn D. Miller, 77, of Clarksville, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.


He was born May 19, 1931 in Mather, a son of the late James and Ruth Thomas Miller.


He was a graduate of the Jefferson High School, California University of Pennsylvania and received his masters degree from West Virginia University.


Mr. Miller was a teacher and began his career with the Washington School District. He later was an economics teacher for the Carmichaels School District and retired as a guidance counselor from the West Greene School District.


A veteran, he served with U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.


He attended the Clarksville Christian Church.


Mr. Miller was a 33rd degree mason and was a member of the F & AM Lodge 237 in Beallsville, the Uniontown and Pittsburgh Consistories.


He was a former active member of the Clarksville Lions Club.


On August 16, 1952 in Denver, Colorado, he married Mary E. Brown, who survives.


Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn D. Miller II, M.D. and Roberta of New Castle; a grandson, Glenn D. Miller III and several nieces and nephews.


He was the last of his immediate family.


Deceased are a brother, James Owen Miller and a sister, Mary Etta Leichliter.


Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255). Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksville Christian Church, PO Box 705, Clarksville, PA 15322 or the Greater Pittsburgh Masonic Learning Center, 3579 Masonic Way, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
