John S. Burcin, 80, of Ellsworth, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Concordia Hospice of Washington - The Donnell House, Washington.
He was born January 26, 1946 in Charleroi, a son of the late Michael and Mary Grachen Burcin.
John was a 1965 graduate of the Bentworth High School.
A veteran, he served with the US Army from September 1965 until June of 1968.
He retired from Bethlehem Mines, and worked at mine 51 and 60, and later as a machinist at the mine's Wilson Shop.
John was a member of the UMWA Local 1197, the Ellsworth Sportsmens Club, Charleroi Sportsmens Club, and the American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville.
John enjoyed fishing, especially the annual fishing trips with his brother George, to Island Point Lodge in Petersburg, Alaska. He also enjoyed hunting and classic car cruises.
Surviving are his wife, Jayne E. Hamay Burcin; daughter Amy L. Burcin of Suwanee, Georgia; grandchildren, Christopher S. Thomas and Lindsay R. Thomas, and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a daughter, Laura J. Burcin Thomas, and two brothers, Michael Burcin and George Burcin.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Private burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray with military honors by the American Legion Post 165 and the US Army.
