John E. King, 81, of Bentleyville, died Thursday, August 5, 2010 in Mon Valley Care Center, Carroll Township.
He was born February 12, 1929 in Bentleyville, a son of John Edward and Thelma Reed King.
He was a 1947 graduate of Bentleyville High School.
Mr. King began his working career with Bethlehem Mines, mine 51 in Ellsworth and then worked for Baltimore Life as an insurance agent. He later worked and retired from R.G. Johnson Construction in Washington.
He was a 32nd degree mason and a 50 year member of the F & A.M. Lodge 237 in Beallsville and also a member of the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and the Pittsburgh Consistory.
He was also a member of the United Mine Worker's of American construction local 1998.
Active in local politics, Mr. King served for four years on Bentleyville Borough council.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Rosemarie Nemish King; two sons, Mark King (Alana) of Bentleyville and Jonathan "Buddy" King (Sherrie) of Virginia Beach, Virg,; two grandchildren, Amanda King Blevins (Bradley "B.J.") and Jonathan "Beaver" King (Emily); three great-grandchildren, Danica Blevins, Christopher Pendergrass and Garrett King; beloved companion, Duke, his Yorkshire terrier and a niece and a nephew.
Deceased are a brother, George L. King and a sister, June King.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255), where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 9, with the Rev. Andy Scott, officiating. Interment will follow in Buckingham Cemetery, Deemston Borough. The F&A.M. Lodge 237 will hold a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
