John Luketich, Jr., 78, of Bentleyville, died Friday, January 18, 2008, at Washington Hospital.
He was born November 11, 1929 in Ellsworth, a son of John, Sr. and Anna Luketich.
A veteran, he served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict as a private first class.
He retired from the former BethEnergy Mines and worked as a mechanic at mines 51 and 84.
He was a member of Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville where he sang in the choir.
Mr. Luketich was also a member of American Legion Post 165 and the Knights of Columbus Council 5826, both of Bentleyville, St. George Lodge 354 Croatian Fraternal Union in Cokeburg and the Antique Automobile Club, Covered Bridge Region.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Adele "Butch" Grochot Luketich; a son, David L. Luketich (Terri) of Bentleyville; a daughter, Jonna A. Luketich of Pittsburgh; a grandson, David John Luketich and several nieces and nephews.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased are four brothers, Joe, Frank, George and Matt Luketich.
Friends were received Saturday evening and will be received from noon to 2 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255), where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, January 21, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville with Rev. Gary W. Krummert, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela with military rites by American Legion Post 165. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ave Maria Parish, 126 Church Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314.
