John Thomas Obituary

John Josiah Thomas, 91, formerly of Bentleyville, died Tuesday evening November 13, 2012 at The Washington Hospital.

He was born on November 16, 1920 in West Bethlehem Township, Washington County, a son of Harry and Elizabeth Smith Thomas.

A self-employed farmer, he had also worked for the Atlas Railroad in Eighty Four.

Mr. Thomas was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Labor Union Local #1058.

He is survived by his former wife, Phyllis Mitchner Thomas; five children, Bruce C. Thomas of Killeen, Texas, Cindy L. Shedlock of Monongahela, John W. “Porky” Thomas of Bentleyville, Bill J. Thomas (Lisa Fox) of Burgettstown and David L. Thomas (Shelly) of Scenery Hill; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Hustava of Bentleyville and Mae Stanish of Beallsville and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are three brothers Bill, Guy, and Dutch Thomas and two sisters, Ruth Thomas and Helen Keegan.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2012 with Pastor David Hall, officiating.
