John C. "Sonny" Dipyatic, 82, of Eighty Four, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023 in his home with his family by his side.
He was born November 5, 1941 in Bentleyville, a son of the late John C. Dipyatic, Sr. and Ann Stepko Dipyatic.
Sonny was a graduate of the Bentleyville High School.
He began his working career as a cabinet maker of Elish Cabinetry, and later worked for and retired from Consol mines, Eighty Four complex.
He was a member of the Saint Katharine Drexel Parish and the United Mine Workers of America, Local 1197.
A lover of the outdoors and hunting, Sonny was at always at Camp JoJo in Benezette, Elk County for every deer and bear hunting season. He also enjoyed fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Theresa A. Galensky Dipyatic; daughters, Janelle Schantz (Jason) of Lower Burrell, and Javon C. Dipyatic of Eighty Four; grandchildren, Cullin and Reid Schantz and Ciana and Presley Rogers; sisters, Elizabeth Saffin (Joseph) and Dolores Stein; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Jaime Thompson and brother, Michael A. Dipyatic, Sr.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2023, followed at 10:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Katharine Drexel, 126 Church Street, Bentleyville, with the Reverend Michael Zavage, as celebrant. Military funeral honors by the American Legion Post 615, Bentleyville will follow the Mass in the church.
Burial will be private.
