John "Sonny" Sokolosky, Jr., 93, of Bentleyville, Fallowfield Township, passed away Sunday morning, April 26, 2026 at home.
He was born on January 12, 1933, on the family farm in Fallowfield Township, a son of the late John Sokolosky, Sr. and Sophie Pawlikowski Sokolosky.
A graduate of Charleroi High School, Sonny was a veteran serving with the United States Army from February 15, 1955, to February 14, 1957.
A lifelong self-employed dairy farmer, he enjoyed being out and working in the fields. He also worked for Dravo Corp. for 19 years.
Sonny was a very involved member, who helped establish, the Grace Methodist Church in Coal Center. He served as a church Trustee and was a member of the Dart Ball League.
He enjoyed bowling at the former Tan-O-Bell Lanes in Bentleyville. He also loved to play cards, woodworking, solve his word search puzzle books, and loved watching game shows on TV.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine "Kay" Louttit Sokolosky; son Kevin Sokolosky of Bentleyville; daughter, Sandy McKee (Mike) of Washington; step-grandson Morgan McKee, and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his son, David A. Sokolosky; siblings, Helen Marcini (the late Nate), Henry Sokolosky (the late Gladys) and Jennie Johnson (the late Sam).
Special thanks to Michelle, Angel, Barbara, OSPTA Hospice Family, and the many other friends and care givers over the years that took wonderful care of him.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 30, 2026, with the Pastor Ken Custer, officiating.
A committal service will follow at Maple Creek Cemetery, where Sonny was a former member and president of the cemetery board of directors.
