We are heartbroken to announce the death of our father, Joseph Edward Knizner.
Joe was born on July 2, 1936, in Marianna to the late John A. Knizner and Mary Kubichar Knizner. He peacefully passed away on July 4, 2022, at the age of 86, surrounded by friends and family.
On May 9, 1964, Joe married Rosalyn (Lynn) DeLuca-Knizner, who sadly passed away on August 23, 2021.
Joe is survived by his four children, Lyn Sloan (Rob) of Marianna, Joseph Knizner (Rebecca) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Edward Knizner (Sheila) of Monongahela, and Karyn Cecil (Stephen) of Marianna; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother Frank Knizner (Vickie) of Fredericktown, and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and John, and his sisters, Marion Harris, Joan Decaranglo, and Catherine Hickman.
Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957 during the Korean War. He then worked as an ironworker and carpenter before his career at Beth Energy, Marianna Mine #58.
Joe enjoyed gardening, baking, and helping family and friends.
He was a member of the Steele-Lillie American Post 744 of Marianna and Saint Katharine Drexel Parish (former Saints Mary and Ann Parish).
Friends are welcome from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255.
A Blessing Service will be held at 5 p.m. with the Reverend Edward L. Yuhas, officiating.
At a later date, a private burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
