Joseph D. Ross, 91, of Ellsworth died unexpectedly, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his home.
He was born January 2, 1925 in Ellsworth, a son of Antonio and Gasperina DeFranks Ross.
He was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and an electrical school in Canton, Ohio.
A veteran, Mr. Ross served with the U.S. Marines as a corporal during World War II.
He was employed as an electrician and retired from Bethlehem Mines, where he at the Wilson Shop.
He was a member of Ave Maria Parish, UMWA Local 1197 and the Mon Valley Leathernecks.
Surviving are his wife Lillian Magera Bizet-Ross; son David Ross of Bentleyville; daughter Diane DiMarzio (Alex) of Louisville, Ohio; grandchildren, Scott Ross, Sean Ross, Alex DiMarzio and Dante DiMarzio; five great-grandchildren; step-children, Annette Bizet (John) of Ellsworth and Joe Bizet (Jeanette) of Scenery Hill; step-grandchildren, John D. Bizet, Mason Shemansek and Lilyanna Shemansek and several nieces and nephews.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased are first wife, Mary Delegram Ross; brothers, Dominick, Frank, Iris and Camille Ross; sister, Rose Nero and step-son John W. Bizet.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 am, Thursday, January 14 followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville, with the Reverend Edward L. Yuhas, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery of Ave Maria Parish with military rites by the American Legion Post 165 and the U.S. Marines. The Ave Maria Women’s guild will pray the Rosary at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
