Lambert Joseph Sebastiani, 76, a Department of Army retiree, died of lung cancer on July 31, 2010 at a nursing facility in Burke, Virginia. At the time of his passing he was surrounded by family.
Mr. Sebastiani was a native of Porto San Giorgio, Italy, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1948 at the age of 14. The family settled in Pitt Gas, near Clarksville, where he finished school.
Before joining the U.S. Army as a civilian employee, he served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959 and was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD. From 1960 until 1982 he was employed by the U.S. Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity at APG, MD.
From 1982 until his retirement, he worked for HQ US Army Materiel Command and retired from the Joint Chiefs of Staff as an Operations Research Analyst.
He graduated from Waynesburg College with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics in 1957 and from the University of Delaware in 1973 with a Masters degree in Statistics.
He was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Dumfries, Virg.
He and his first wife, Elia Nuccetelli Sebastiani, were married for 39 years and had three sons. She died June 18, 2000.
Survivors include his second wife, Martha Crawford Sebastiani, whom he married in 2004, of Dumfries, Virg.; three children, Joseph of Bel Air Maryland and Mark and Michael, both of Arlington, Virg.; five grand-children and two great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 7 at Scenery Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Gary W. Krummert, officiating. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 165 of Bentleyville.
