Marge Bogdewic Obituary

Marge Zamiska Bogdewic, 81, of Cokeburg and Jensen Beach, Florida, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the Donnell House, Washington.


She was born December 2, 1927 in Cokeburg, a daughter of Thomas and Anna Dziak Zamiska.


She was a graduate of the Ellsworth High School.


Since 1958, she was the secretary-treasurer of B. Bogdewic Chevrolet in Bentleyville.


Mrs. Bogdewic was a member of Ave Maria Parish in Bentleyville and attended St. Martin DePorres Parish in Jensen Beach, Florida and was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.


She was a member of the former St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Cokeburg and its Christian Mothers and the former St. Clement's Parent Teachers Guild.


Mrs. Bogdewic was a former member of the Nemacolin Country Club and its social committee.


She loved reading cook book recipes and was an avid follower of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the fighting Irish of Notre Dame.


She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 61 years, Bruno J. Bogdewic. They were married on July 3, 1948 at former St. Luke Church by Father Yunkers. The couple traveled extensively throughout the world.


Also surviving are three children, Dr. Thomas A. Bogdewic (MaryAnn) of Sewickley, Bruno L. "Chip" Bogdewic (Patty) Bogdewic of Beallsville and Judy Bogdewic Verno (Chuck) of Washington; seven grandchildren, T.J., Beth, Ryan, Chad and Hannah Bogdewic and Ashley and Kayleigh Verno; two great-grandchildren, Shelby and Elizabeth Bogdewic and several nieces and nephews.


Mrs. Bogdewic was the last of her immediate family.


Deceased are her brothers and sisters, Michael who died at birth, Anna, John, Helen, Henry and Kaye and a nephew, Denny Dziak.


Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255), where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2009 followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville with Revs. Gary W. Krummert, Hugh Lang and John Forbidussi, as con-celebrants. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Donnell House c/o Hospice Care of Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Ave., Washington, PA 15301 or a charity of one's choice. The Ave Maria Women's Guild will pray the rosary at 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. For those unable to attend, condolences can be sent at www.thompson-marodi.com.
