Mary Bertha Sotack Smatsky, 89, recently of Kingston, Ontario, Canada, formerly of Bentleyville and Van Voorhis, died Friday, August 6, 2010.
She was born October 9, 1920 in Redtown, Ohio, a daughter of Mike and Barbara Felzak Sotack.
She was a member of Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville.
Mrs. Smatsky was employed by Ringgold School District, where she worked as the manager in the Fallowfield Township school cafeteria for 20 years.
Her husband, Stanley Smatsky, died November 4, 1979.
Surviving are daughter, Barbara Kisilevsky (Robert) of Kingston, Ontario; four grandchildren, Lynn Smatsky Shavinsky (John), David Kisilevsky, Alexandra Kisilevsky and Sarah Natasha Kisilevsky Reid (Peter); two great-grandsons, Michael and Andrew Shavinsky; sister-in-law, Anne Sotack of Bentleyville, brother-in-law, John Bartolf of South Carolina and daughter-in-law, Alice Smatsky of Ann Arbor, Mich. and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are in addition to her husband are a son, Stanley Joseph Smatsky, who died in August 2000 and his first wife, Nancy Smatsky, who died in December 1995; three sisters, Anna Sotack, Helen Bartolf and Betty Scheider and her husband Henry; brother, Mike Sotack; a grandson-in-law, Jaimie Smith, who died in October 2001.
Friends are welcome at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc. , 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255) from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 11, where a prayer service will be held at 11:30 a.m. followed at noon by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville with Rev.
