Michael Borelli Obituary

Michael V. Borelli, 95, formerly of Van Voorhis, died Sunday evening, May 13, 2012 at the home of his daughter.

He was born April 26, 1917, in Hazelkirk, a son of Rocco and Angelina Storti Borelli.

A retired coal miner, he worked for Bethlehem Mines for 51 ½ years.

He enjoyed music and his band, Hi-Tones, played at numerous clubs in the Mon Valley and Pittsburgh areas.

Mr. Borelli also enjoyed gardening and hunting and love the outdoors.

On March 3, 1946 at St. Michael's Church in Donora, he married Pauline Fritch, who survives.

Also surviving are two children, Michael V. Borelli, Jr. (Patricia Ann) of Shelby Township, Michigan and Carol Nevins (Thomas) of Carroll Township; four grandchildren Lori Hega (Brad), Ryan Nevins, Michael V. Borelli, III and Whitney Lauren Borelli; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Logan Hega; a sister, Antoinette Barkey of Van Voorhis and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Paul and John Borelli and four sisters, Rose Danilchak, Edith Popinchalk, Isabelle Barton and Anne Tesolin.


Friends are welcome from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, May 18 followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville with the Rev.
