Nellie A. Potoczny Marshalek, 87, formerly of Bentleyville, died Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the Washington Hospital.

She was born October 13, 1919 in Bentleyville, a daughter of Joseph and Julia Maniecki Potoczny.

She attended the Bentleyville schools.

For 50 years, she was the owner and operator of Marshalek's Market in Bentleyville.

She was a member of Ave Maria Parish and the parish's Women's Guild.

On July 13, 1940 she married Rudolph Marshalek, Jr., who died March 22, 1987.

Surviving are two sons, Rudy Marshalek and wife Rose and Tom Marshalek and wife Annette, all of Scenery Hill; four grandchildren, Jason, Adam, Zackery and Laurel Marshalek; a step-grandson, Tracey Crockett; two great-grandchildren, Paige and Austin Marshalek; three step-great-grandchildren, Britney, Joa and Jacob Crockett and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Deceased are a brother, Stanley J. "Birdie" Potoczny, Sr.; two sisters, Stephanie Stechly and Millie Puskavich.

Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc. 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, February 24, followed at 1 p.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ave Maria Parish, Bentleyville with Rev. Edwin J. Wichman, as celebrant. Private interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. The Ave Maria Parish Women's Guild will pray the Rosary at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ave Maria Parish, 126 Church Street, Bentleyville, Pennsylvania 15314.
