Nicholas Basey, 71, of Bentleyville, died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Washington Hospital.
He was born January 26, 1947 in Clover Hill, a son of the late Steve and Ann Lipsky Basey.
He was a graduate of the California High School.
During the Vietnam War, Mr. Basey served with the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division as a sergeant.
For 18 years, he was a foreman with the Vesta and Massey Mines and later worked and retired from Washington Steel in Washington.
An avid golfer, he golfed at several area and out of state courses and enjoyed cutting wood with his brother Lenny.
Mr. Basey was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Judith Ann Hrutkay Basey; a daughter, Stefanie King (Matthew) of Washington; brothers, Leonard Basey of Daisytown and Timothy Basey (Janet) of Donora; a sister, Rose Pournaras (Chris) of Canonsburg; several nieces and nephews; a great-niece and several great-nephews and his cat, Ozzy.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2018 with the Pastor Paul Peternel, officiating.
Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora with military rites by American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville.
