Patsy J. Bava, 80, of Bentleyville, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at IHS Greenery, Canonsburg.
He was born July 26, 1927 in Monessen, a son of Cosmo and Jenny Liberto Bava.
A veteran, he served with the Merchant Marines, during World War II.
He retired from the former BethEnergy Mines and worked at mine 51 in Ellsworth.
Mr. Bava was a member of the U.M.W.A. Local 1197 and once served as president for District 5 of the U.M.W.A.
He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1809, Independent Club and the Lithuanian Club, all of Bentleyville,
On August 2, 1948 in Monessen, he married Marie Castelle, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Louise Bava of Pittsburgh and Vita Blackburn of Bentleyville and two grandchildren, Brent and Bethany Blackburn.
Deceased are an infant daughter, Jenny Marie and a brother, John Bava.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255), where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 11 followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville with Rev. Gary W. Krummert, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela
