Paul A. Quast, 85, of Eighty Four, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022, at Camp Whispering Pines, Sinnemahoning, Cameron County.
He was born October 2, 1936 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Herman G. Quast and Mary Elizabeth Thinnis Quast.
A veteran, Paul served with the United States Air Force during the Korea war.
He owned and operated Paul's Gulf Service in Eighty Four.
Paul later worked for, and retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was an operator at the Maxwell Lock and Dam.
He was a member of the McMurray Lions Club, and was the Past District Governor for the Lions International, District 14-M.
Paul was a member of the Emmanuel United Presbyterian Church in Eighty Four, and a founding member of the former Somerset Township Volunteer Fire Department.
An avid sports enthusiast, he loved hunting, fishing, and all motorsports.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 945 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 553 in Strabane.
Surviving are his wife, Constance “Connie” Hamilton Quast; sons, Gary A. Quast (Tammy L. Colbert) of Eighty Four and Greg A. Quast (Bette) of Manassas, Virginia; granddaughters, Claire M. Hackinson (John) and Madeline S. Quast; great-granddaughter, Kaydence Hackinson; brother, Fred Quast of Export; sisters Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Sprague of Scenery Hill and Rita Ann Streeter of Fowlerville, Michigan and many nieces and nephews
Paul will be sadly missed by his little dog, Tipper.
Friends are welcome from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Francis Skariot, officiating.
A procession will follow to Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray for a committal service and military honors by American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville, and the U.S. Air Force.
