Robert Godfrey Obituary

Robert "Bob" Godfrey Jr. passed away April 30, 2024 at the Washington Hospital due to complications from a lengthy illness.

He was born on November 2, 1949 in Washington to Robert I. Godfrey Sr. and Margaret Ansello Godfrey.

He remained a lifelong resident of Bentleyville, until his passing.

Bob was a graduate of Bentworth High School and began his working life at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel until 1986.

It was during that time of transition in his personal and professional life, that he chose to pursue other opportunities and became an ordained minister through the United Christian Church Ministerial Association in Cleveland, Tennessee in 1987.

Throughout his life he maintained a great sense of reverence for his Christian faith and would often share his beliefs with those around him. As he experienced increased health issues and limitations, he chose to maintain this sense of purpose and spirituality despite experiencing his own physical limitations and disabilities.

Throughout his life, Bob had been an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and spending time hiking and walking in nature. He had a love for photography, his cats and most of all pursing his hobbies and interests. He was a collector of all types of guns, vehicles and eclectic things. He was a music lover and a man who had a desire to always learn and understand the "why" behind everything.

He is survived by his two daughters both of Ohio, Hiedi Lynn (Godfrey) Konsol and Valerie Dawn (Godfrey) Flanigan and her husband, Brian; one grandson, Matthew Konsol; two granddaughters, Lydia and Ava Flanagan; his only sibling, Larry M. Godfrey, and his children, George and Jessica Godfrey.

He is also survived by many friends, neighbors, and caregivers. The family would like to say a special thank you to each person who has offered support and care to Bob throughout his lengthy illness, especially to the medical staff and caregivers through Amedysis Hospice.

He was proceeded in death by both of his parents, Robert, Sr. and Margaret Godfrey; a sister-in-law, Beatrice Ann Godfrey; a son in law, Andrew Konsol III and several beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

There are no services at this time, however a celebration of life may be arranged for a future date.
