Russell W. Kearns, 83, of Bentleyville, Somerset Township, died Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Monongahela Valley Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1924 in Carroll Township, a son of Dewey Ray and Clara Eliza Williams Kearns.
He attended the Somerset township school and was a 1942 graduate of Bentleyville High School.
He was a farmer and an employee of Equitrans Natural Gas Co. for 32 years and retired in June 1986.
Mr. Kearns was a member of the Pigeon Creek United Presbyterian Church in Eighty Four, where he served as an elder.
He was a member of Scenery Hill Lions Club, F & AM Lodge 237 in Beallsville, Lodge of Perfection in Uniontown and the Consistory of Pittsburgh
His wife, Rena Lou Mitchell Kearns, whom he married on June 2, 1949, survives.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, James R. McVicker and Tammy L. Anderson (Corey), all of Bentleyville; six great-grandchildren, Austin Curry, Anthony and Rylee McVicker, Tori, Kyle and Casi Anderson; a daughter, Darlene McVicker; a sister, Edith Riggle (Donald) of Bentleyville and a brother, Clair Kearns of Bentleyville.
Deceased are two brothers, Wilber and Harry Kearns.
Friends received from 12 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255), where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2007 with the Rev. Raymond R. Bruno, officiating. Interment will follow in Pigeon Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, 490 E. North Ave., Suite 500, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 or the Pigeon Creek United Presbyterian Church, 45 Church Road, Eighty Four, PA 15330. On Sunday, the Scenery Hill Lions Club will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. followed by the F & A.M. Lodge 237 memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
