Ruth E. Black Thomas, 94, of Bentleyville, Somerset Township, died Monday, June 7, 2010 at her home.
She was born August 13, 1915 in Somerset Township, a daughter of Oliver Boyd and Laura Morrison Black.
Mrs. Thomas was a graduate of the East Washington High School.
A homemaker, she enjoyed working crossroad puzzles, sewing, counted cross stitch, playing games and gardening. She loved her flowers and animals, especially Molly, her dachshund and Smokey, her cat.
On December 31, 1935 in Morgantown, West Virginia, she married Ernest E. Thomas, who died July 14, 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Edward E. Thomas (Gloria) of Bentleyville and Robert L. Thomas (Terrie) of Waynesburg; two daughters, Evelyn L. Wilson of Bentleyville and Mary Ellen of New Eagle; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are a son, Harry I. Thomas, who died January 7, 1992; three brothers, Elmer, Raymond and Carl Black and four sisters, Laura J. Black, Catharine Black Longdon, Pearl Black Hufford and Olive Black Butler.
Friends welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255), where services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 10 with the Rev. Jim Cannon, officiating. Interment will follow in Pigeon Creek United Presbyterian Cemetery, Eighty Four. For those unable to attend, condolences can be sent at www.thompson-marodi.com
