Sam Scicchitano Obituary

Francis Samuel Scicchitano, 82, of Bentleyville, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Canonsburg General Hospital.


He was born October 5, 1924 in Bentleyville, a son of Domenico and Maria Mirarchi Scicchitano.


He worked as a coal miner for Bethlehem Mines, Mine 51 Ellsworth. After retiring, he assisted at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Bentleyville.


He was a life member of the Bentleyville Volunteer Fire Department.


A veteran, Mr. Scicchitano served during World War II as a private first class with the US Army.


His wife, Esther Mae Stoner Scicchitano, died September 20, 2003.


Surviving are a son, Robert Scicchitano of Ellsworth; a daughter, Marie Larimer (husband Roy) of Bentleyville; five grandchildren, Renee Kellerman, Eric Scicchitano, Cherie Livolsi, Angela Larimer and Valorie Hall; nine great-grandchildren, Madison, Haley and Noah Kellerman, Sarah Scicchitano, Victoria and Joseph Livolsi, Nicholas, Sarah and Autumn Hall; two brothers, Bruno A. and Patsy Scicchitano, both of Bentleyville; a sister, Josephine Sommariva of Georgia and several nieces and nephews.


Deceased are two brothers, Ralph and Tony "Sinso" Scicchitano, a sister, Terese Codispot and an infant brother, Joseph.


Friends will be received from noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 2 with Mr. David Hall, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Creek Cemetery with graveside military rites by the American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bentleyville Volunteer Fire Department, 900 Main Street, Bentleyville, PA 15314.
