Scott Alan Sumney, of Scenery Hill, was born February 21, 1964,and died January 22, 2025 after his battle with cancer.
Scott was the son of the late David and Polly Miller Sumney.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Beverly Ritzo Sumney; daughter Grace Sumney; brother Davey (Carol) Sumney; godfather to Liam Watters, along with several nephews and cousins.
He graduated from Bentworth High School class of 1982.
Scott took pride in his work and rarely missed a day of work in 38 years at People's Gas (Equitable Gas). He was a regulator specialist.
He also loved to spend his time cutting grass in the summer all around town.
Scott was actively involved in his home church of Pigeon Creek Presbyterian his entire life, holding many positions on committees, sang in the choir, dart ball and bowling leagues. He took great joy in golfing and was able to start the first golf outing fundraiser for his church.
Scott also loved to hunt and enjoyed his yearly week-long hunting trips to Camp Valley View with the men of his family. He loved to watch football, baseball, golf, and studio wrestling.
Music was important to him, his extensive record collection and he would play the guitar.
He also was a member of the former Bentleyville Firemen's Marching Band, where he played the trumpet, and was a member of NSS Life.
Scott was a family man at heart. He took pride when Grace was born, that in 125 years, she was the first girl in the family. After his diagnosis of Glioblastoma in May 2022, it didn't stop him. He and Bev would go on a "new adventure" every day and take many trips to Baltimore to visit Grace.
