Steve Rychlik Obituary

Steve L. Rychlik, 86, of Finleyville, died Friday, March 6, 2009 at the Monongahela Valley Hospital.


He was born January 16, 1923 in Van Voorhis, a son of John and Louise Anna Jasak Rychlik.


A veteran, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II as a corporal in England and France .


He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church , Finleyville.


He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the Mingo Rod and Gun Club and was a former Boy Scout leader in Van Voorhis.


Mr. Rychlik retired from the former BethEnergy Mines, Inc., and worked at mine 51 in Ellsworth for 31 years.


His wife, Anna Rychlik, died in 1980.


Surviving are a sister, Bertha Babirad of Denver, Colorado; a nephew, Steven Babirad; two cousins, Ellen Neirzewski and Ann Zelinski, both of Massachusetts; his long-time companion, Grace Meikle of Charleroi and her children, Diane Ranallo, John Nagy, Thomas Nagy; Grace's grandchildren, Tara and Aaron Poland, J.T and Carli Nagy and Bradley and Cali Nagy; Grace's great-grandchildren, Cordell Aldrich, Braden Ogletree, Madison and Lela Poland, Jack and Josey Nagy; Mr. Rychlik's special friends, George and Sandy Cheplic of Finleyville, Dennis and Doreen Gilley of England.


Deceased is a nephew, Robert Babirad.


Friends will be received from 10 -11 a.m., Monday, March 9 at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville (724-239-2255), where a blessing service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary W. Krummert, pastor of Ave Maria Parish, officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society/PA Division, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
